PAWNS SERIES

Eighteen-year-old Leah Venn has a damaged heart; twenty-year-old Beau Moiré has a dark secret; both bring them together in a way that ignites a passionate, reckless love; just as both seal their fate against a political ploy that will cost them everything.

In the year 2024, the United Nations has fallen. Struggling with a failing economy and the dissension of alliances, The United States is engaged in a devastating war with several Middle Eastern countries. From the ashes of extremists, a powerful league of nations—The Middle-Eastern Council—has been created as a military government with one goal in mind: to see America burn.

In hostile territory, deep in the underground tunnels within Afghanistan, a U.S. military organization known only as Division-7-9 is actively preparing for the conflict to come—recruiting elite army soldiers and training them, testing them, to the best of their abilities.

However, corruption, as a select few have discovered, is intricate. Joseph Locke, a leading assassin for D79, has gone rogue. Though he isn’t the first to do so, he is the first to be alive after two years of pursuit—by not only his ex-comrades of the organization, but his fellow Americans and the White House, whose ignorance and desperation have branded him a traitor. FBI Special Agent Thomas Lawton is hard on the case, but baffled by details that appear inconsistent. Could Middle-Eastern plans, the FBI’s most wanted man, and a military conspiracy all be traced straight back to the White House? One man has the answer and it, unfortunately, is not Lawton.

With a dark past no one believes and a loyalty twisted by men much more powerful than he, Locke is on the run. There’s only one problem: Joseph Locke does not exist, and never has.

In a small, peaceful town on the edge of California, an ex-soldier named Beau Moiré is biding his time, while the world continues to spin out of balance.

In her breakout, 3-part PAWNS series, Turba crafts a captivating, page-turning tale of passion, suspense and international intrigue that has very real world implications in the years to come. With characters that capture your heart at every twist, and challenges that will shock you at every turn, Turba's Pawns will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about the politics of war.

Spin of Fate

Published in 2014, Spin of Fate introduces young Leah Venn, a troubled girl who wakes up on the beach in California, US, one day to a shirtless soldier, Beau Moiré, who somehow finds a way to turn her world upside down with one dark truth – “D79.”

Despite her reservations and eighteen years of shutting the world out, Leah can't help but to be seduced by Beau's mysterious allure, and as their passion ignites, she's quickly thrust into a war that she, and consequently the rest of the world, knows nothing about.

The United States of America is collapsing, and only a select few in political power know why.

Desperate for a grasp of stability as everything she once held as truth comes crashing down around her, Leah finds herself just as much a pawn in a dangerous game as Beau has been for over four years.

Only this time, love's given Beau something to fight for - and now, something to lose.

Price of Loyalty

Published in 2016, Price of Loyalty picks up where ex-soldier Beau Moire and young Leah Venn leave off - separated in enemy territory in the middle of war.

Facing their own degrees of difficulties as the couple's vigilante team,Yankee Two, gears up for a deadly assault on a military compound in Zaranj, Afghanistan, some key players of the terrorist organization Division-7-9 are introduced that will change the game entirely.

A world away, FBI Special Agent Thomas Lawton is hard on a case that brings him close to the truth and, if he's not careful, death. Because, as Lawton is discovering, Moire isn't the only one fighting in the shadows of the world.

In Spin of Fate, Beau and Leah withstood the pitfalls of power to find each other. This time, in Price of Loyalty, they must fight not to lose themselves, as the young couple come face to face with quite possibly their biggest challenge yet - discovering, and accepting, their own pasts.

Loyalties are tested and lies will be revealed; but will love, and life, be lost?
